Welcome to the website for a collaborative research project between scholars at Macquarie and Flinders Universities that investigates the impact of the sexual and feminist revolutions on Australian citizenship. “Gender and sexual politics: Changing citizenship in Australia since 1969” will produce a history of how ideas about gender, sexuality and identity have remade and recast Australian political life since the early 1970s. The project is funded by the ARC Discovery Projects Scheme and based at Macquarie University. We hope, moreover, this project will support new lines of inquiry in Australian historical scholarship, and generate and nourish connections and discussions beyond the team itself.
On this site, you will find information about the aims of the project, the people involved, scholarly and other outputs, and upcoming events.
